Tanned head, pickled feet (performance)

The performance is based on the conservation process of The Tollund Man, a 2000 year old body found extremly well preserved in a Danish bog. The bog creates conditions for the preserving processes for the bodies it holds. The bodies’ removal causes an acute need for simulating the bog’s preserving qualities In the Tollund Man’s case, his head, finger and feet have been preserved.

G/L performed a text written on rhyming verse, which was based on the transformation of the Tollund Man’s skin into leather, mixed with food preservation and military marches. The text was written on their feet and they had to twist into different positions for the text to be readable. In the end of the performance they placed pickled gherkins in-between their toes.
